Volkswagen has introduced the latest version of the Volkswagen Golf GTI at the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show. For the first time, the legendary sports car is available in two power levels: standard GTI Performance 220 PS or 230 PS and the front axle differential lock.

There are a few changes to the interior of the Volkswagen Golf GTI. Compared with the previous model, the wheelbase extended 53 mm to 2,631 mm, but at the same time shortened front overhang 12 mm. In parallel, A-pillar "wandering" further to the rear, which makes a longer hood and visual shift the entire vehicle cabin rearwards. This "cab-backward effect" makes the GTI more than the premium class car compact car class. In addition, the reduced height of the GTI 27 mm to 1,442 mm. Car length grew by 55 mm to 4,268 mm now, and the width grows 13 mm to 1,799 mm.

New GTI is powered by a turbocharged direct injection petrol engines (TSI) with 162 kW / 220 PS. For the first time in the history of the iconic sports car, specifically Performance GTI will be offered. In this version, the maximum engine power boosted to 169 kW / 230 PS. The second version of the GTI develops a maximum torque of 350Nm. Standard GTI accelerates to 100 km / h in 6.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 246 km / hour. Performance GTI reaches a top speed of 250 km / h and just 6.4 seconds to sprint to 100 km / h.
The second version of the GTI is equipped with a Stop-Start system, they fulfill the EU-6 standards applicable emission in 2014 and - with a 6-speed gearbox - they achieve the same low value DIN fuel consumption of 6.0 l/100 km (CO2 : 139 g / km). This means that the Golf GTI offers a 18 percent improvement in fuel economy compared to the previous model. With the optional 6-speed DSG, GTI cars consume two 6.4 and 6.5 l/100 respectively (equivalent to 148 and 150 g / km CO2).
